Pope Gregory XIII imposed upon the Jews of Rome that they attend a conversion sermon every Saturday.

The bull fixed the number of those who were required to attend and charged the authorities to compel them; attendance was verified, and guards passed through the rows to prevent anyone from stopping their ears. The obligation lasted in the Papal States until the nineteenth century.
