Riot against the Jewry of Provence

The Jewish quarter of Aix-en-Provence was attacked during a riot.
Aix had the largest community in the county, and its Jewish quarter bordered the comital palace. The riots of those years, in Aix as in Arles and Marseille, drove a portion of the Jews of Provence to convert or to cross into Italy even before the edict of expulsion, which would come some ten years later.
