Mulhouse, an Imperial city in Upper Alsace, saw its community destroyed during the passage of the Armleder bands.
This movement is distinguished by its duration: three years, compared to a single summer for Rintfleisch. It was no longer an expedition but an entrenched state of violence, with several successive leaders and bands that reformed after each dispersal. It took a coalition of cities and princes to bring it to an end, and the peace thus achieved lasted only ten years: the Black Death arrived.
