The Tzrifin bus station serves one of the largest military camps in the country: conscripts wait there for transport to return home at the end of the week. The explosive device detonates against this crowded shelter.
The attack takes place on the same day as that of café Hillel, in Jérusalem, signaling a coordinated action aimed at striking civilian and military targets simultaneously. The victims are for the most part very young unarmed soldiers waiting for a civilian bus: the distinction between front and rear, already tenuous in Israel, is entirely erased in this type of attack, and the army subsequently reorganized the transport of its conscripts.
