Attack — Musmus, bus 823
20 mars 2002·Musmus, bus 823
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
The road crossing the Wadi Ara, between the coastal plain and the Jezréel valley, is used by intercity buses connecting Tel-Aviv and Nazareth.
Near Musmus, a man boards one of these buses and detonates his charge while the vehicle is in motion. The bus is torn apart and leaves the road; passengers are killed, dozens wounded. Inhabitants of the neighboring Arab villages come to the aid of the victims.
The attack strikes one of the roads where the Jewish and Arab populations of Israel cross paths daily, which gave it, within the country, a particular resonance.
