In London, the attacks were concentrated in the East End and in Bethnal Green, neighborhoods where the Jewish community had been established since the great migrations from the Russian Empire and where the pre-war fascist groups had already attempted to take root.
Businesses were targeted and shop windows smashed during the nights following the announcement of the execution of the British sergeants in Palestine. The Jewish defense organizations, heirs to those of the 1930s, once again patrolled the streets.
The London episode was less violent than that of Liverpool, but it unfolded on the very ground where British antisemitism had manifested itself before the war, which gave it a particular resonance.
