Episcopal city of Transdanubia, Veszprém sees its community shut up in a closed quarter then led to the gathering camps of the region, from which the summer convoys depart.
Veszprém, city of queens on the northern shore of Lake Balaton, was home to a community that lived by trade and craftsmanship, with its Neolog synagogue and its institutions. After the German occupation of Hungary, the Jews of the city and the county were confined to a ghetto, then transported to the assembly camps of Transdanubia. The convoys departed in early summer for the extermination center in Upper Silesia. The community of Veszprém was destroyed.
