A town in the great plain, Karcag saw its Jewish families grouped in a closed quarter and then led to the assembly camps of the county, from which the convoys departed.

Karcag, in the Great Cumania, was home to a community that lived by trading grain, livestock, and the crafts of the plain, with its synagogue and its school. After the German occupation of Hungary, the Jews of the town and of the surrounding villages were confined to a ghetto, then led to the assembly camps of the county. The convoys departed in early summer for the extermination center in Upper Silesia. The community of Karcag did not reconstitute itself.
