County seat of Somogy, Kaposvár sees its Jews and those of the surrounding towns gathered in a barracks and a brickyard, before the convoys of early summer.
Kaposvár, the county seat of Somogy, maintained a community that lived from agricultural trade, mills, and crafts, with its synagogue and school. After the German occupation of Hungary, the Jews of the city and the county were confined in a ghetto established in a neighborhood of the city, then gathered in a camp on the outskirts. The convoys departed at the beginning of summer toward the extermination center in Upper Silesia; the community of Kaposvár disappeared.
