The Shoah (1939–1945)
Liquidation of the Dokchytsy Ghetto
printemps 1942·Dokchytsy
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
A town in northern Polesia, Dokchytsy sees its ghetto surrounded in spring, its inhabitants led to graves dug apart, while a few young people escape toward detachments in the marshes.
Dokchytsy, a town in the Vitebsk region, sees its Jews confined in an enclosed quarter, swelled by those from neighboring villages. The roundups of spring and summer lead the inhabitants in columns toward pits dug at the edge of town; a few escape into the marshes and join the partisans.
