The Jews of Virovitica lose their shops to commissioners appointed by the Ustaše regime, then are arrested and sent to internment sites.

Virovitica, on the Drava, had an active Jewish community engaged in the grain and timber trade, with its synagogue and institutions. From the proclamation of the Ustasha State, racial decrees stripped its members of ownership of their businesses, which were placed under commissioners appointed by the regime, then subjected them to marking requirements and residency bans. Roundups began during the summer and continued in waves through the winter. The Jewish families of Virovitica were led to the camps of the new State, primarily in Slavonia, where nearly all of them perished. The city thus lost a Jewish presence that stretched back more than a century.
