Capital of Courland where the community was ancient, Tukums sees its Jews arrested in the first weeks of occupation, detained then shot in the surroundings by auxiliary units.
Tukums, in Courland, was home to a community established since the eighteenth century around its market and workshops. Upon the arrival of German troops, the men were arrested and shot in the surrounding woods; the women and children were imprisoned for several weeks before meeting the same fate.
