plusieurs centaines de morts

The community of one of the oldest towns in Latgale, whose wooden synagogue had spanned two centuries, is shot in the woods bordering the lakes.

Ludza, one of the oldest communities in Latgale, preserved a remarkable wooden synagogue, since restored. Its Jewish inhabitants were gathered in the first weeks of the occupation, detained, then led to pits dug in the nearby woods and shot during the summer by auxiliaries supervised by the security police.
