District capital of southern Bukovina, Storozynetz sees its community assembled by order of the Romanian government, stripped of its property and taken to convoys that cross the Dniester.
Storozynetz, in northern Bukovina, was home to a community that lived from timber and the trade of fairs. With the arrival of Romanian and German troops, the town's Jews were plundered, some were shot on the spot, and the others were gathered into columns for the forced march toward the left bank of the Dniestr, where deportation awaited them.
