The community of the hamlet, famous for its palace and its old synagogue, is driven on foot to the neighboring town at the beginning of winter; many die on the road, and the survivors are deported the following year to a death center.
The Jews of Ruzhany, an ancient town in the Slonim region endowed with a great stone synagogue, are first confined to a sealed quarter, then forced on a march toward Wołkowysk in the depths of winter. Many die along the way, shot by guards or felled by exhaustion; those who arrive are imprisoned in a transit camp before being sent to the death centers. The community does not survive this march.
