Jews of Poltava who could not be evacuated are shot on the outskirts of the city.
Poltava is taken at the end of September. The city lay on the evacuation route eastward, and a significant portion of its Jewish population had been able to leave with the administrations and relocated factories.
Those who remain — the sick, the elderly, the families that nothing made it possible to move — are registered and then led to the outskirts of the city and shot in November. Poltava had been, at the beginning of the century, one of the cities where Ukrainian Jewish life was the most organized.
