The Jews of Pančevo, like all those of the Banat, are rounded up by German occupation authorities and taken to internment camps in the Belgrade region.

Pančevo was among the first cities in the Banat where the German occupier applied anti-Jewish measures, with the assistance of auxiliaries recruited from the German-speaking population of the region. After a period of harassment, requisitions, and the execution of hostages, the order was given to expel the entire Jewish population from the Banat. The families of Pančevo were arrested during the summer following the invasion, stripped of their belongings, and led across the Danube to internment sites established in the region of the capital. The men were largely shot in the course of the reprisals of that autumn; the women and children perished the following winter.
