A small town on the Bukovinian frontier returned to Romanian administration, Herta sees its Jews accused of welcoming the previous occupant, beaten, plundered and partly shot before the expulsion of the rest.
Herta, a small town on the northern fringe of Romanian Moldavia, annexed and then retaken, sees its community accused of collusion with the previous occupier. The inhabitants are rounded up, some shot within the town and its surroundings, the others driven onto the roads of deportation toward the left bank of the Dniester.
