City of the Dniestr fortress, Soroca saw its community delivered to the violence of reconquest, then gathered and led to the crossing points of the river for deportation.
Soroca, dominated by its fortress on the banks of the Dniestr, was home to a large community that lived by the river and the fairs. In the summer, the Jews were stripped of their belongings, some killed on the spot, and the others gathered at the transit camp before being driven across to the other bank.
