Fortress city on the Dniestr retaken by Romanian troops, Khotyn sees its Jews accused of collusion with the previous occupant, some shot on the spot and the rest driven onto the roads of expulsion.
Khotyn, guarded by its fortress on the Dniester, sees its community subjected to violence as soon as Romanian and German troops return. The inhabitants are stripped of their possessions, some killed on the spot or along the roads, and the rest driven into the columns crossing the river toward the camps on the eastern bank.
