The Shoah (1939–1945)
First convoy departed from Frankfurt
19 oct. 1941·Francfort-sur-le-Main
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
The Jews of Frankfurt are assembled in the city's wholesale market, beneath the concrete vaults of the building, then led to the freight station.
The first convoy that left Frankfurt in the autumn takes the families gathered in the halls of the wholesale market, on the banks of the Main, to the Lodz ghetto. The building will serve as an assembly point for all subsequent convoys. The community, which counted among the oldest and most learned in the country, is deported in less than two years.
