The Hebrew books of Frankfurt were seized, before Reuchlin's intervention caused the measure to be suspended.

The community of Frankfurt was one of the few in Germany not to have been expelled in the fifteenth century, and its Judengasse housed the largest Jewish community in the Empire; it was there that the seizure ordered by the emperor struck the most books, and there that their restitution was most eagerly awaited.
