The synagogues of Cologne, including the one on Roonstrasse, are set on fire; Jewish shops in the old town are looted and men arrested.

In Cologne, the city's synagogues are set ablaze and Jewish businesses ransacked during the night following the call issued from Munich. Men are rounded up and taken to a camp. The Rhenish community, one of the oldest in Europe, attested since late Antiquity, loses that night its places of worship and the bulk of its institutions.
