The community of Wiener Neustadt was destroyed during the Wiener Gesera.

It was, after Vienna, the most important in the duchy, and its school had as its master Israël Isserlein, whose legal rulings are still read; he escaped the Gesera because he was elsewhere at the time, and it was he who reconstituted, a generation later, a community in the city.
