the Jewry attacked

The Jewish quarter of Jerez was attacked during the wave of thirteen ninety-one.

The city was one of the closest to Seville, from which the wave originated, and was therefore among the first to be struck. The whole of lower Andalusia fell thus in a matter of days, before the news had reached Toledo and Catalonia.
