The Jewish quarter of Burgos was ransomed and pillaged during the civil war of Castile.
Henri de Trastamare, having entered the city, demanded a crushing levy from the Jews to pay his companies; those who could not pay saw their possessions seized, and even the ornaments of the synagogues were sold.
