The community of Turckheim was destroyed during the wave of the Black Death in Alsace.
An imperial city neighboring Colmar, Turckheim followed the decision of its neighbors and admitted no permanent Jewish residents for generations.
The property of the dead was divided between the city and the lord, according to the division that was repeated from one end of Alsace to the other that year.
