The community of Hanovre was destroyed during the Black Death.
The city was then only a small town on the Leine; Judaism reappeared there in the modern era and Hanovre became, in the nineteenth century, a center of German Judaism.
The small community lived by lending to merchants on the road connecting Westphalia to Lower Saxony; it disappeared entirely with the wave.
