the call attacked
The call of Solsona, in Catalonia, was attacked during the massacres of the Black Death. The epidemic had reached the peninsula through the Catalan ports a few months after Provence.
Pierre IV of Aragon ordered royal officers to protect the calls and to pursue the murderers, and he kept his word in several cities. The Catalan communities suffered less from this wave than those of Germany, but they were diminished in their numbers and their property, and had not regained their footing when the wave of thirteen ninety-one arrived.
