the community attacked

The community of Colmar was attacked during the extension of the Armleder massacres into Alsace. The band had crossed the Rhine and was moving up the plain, striking at towns along the way.

The Alsatian towns and the bishop of Strasbourg then formed a peace league that brought the movement to an end. Ten years later, the very same towns that had sworn this peace would themselves burn their Jews during the Black Death, with no outside band needing to come.
