Taghit, an oasis in the western Algerian Sahara (Béchar wilaya), had a small Jewish community linked to trans-Saharan caravan trade networks in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. As in other oases of southern Algeria, this presence gradually declined over the course of the nineteenth century.
