Spoleto, former capital of the eponymous Lombard duchy and then papal city, hosted a medieval and modern Jewish community attested in municipal and papal sources. Jewish presence is documented in the 13th century with moneylenders, and extended until the restrictions of the Papal States in the 16th–17th centuries.
