Saint-Louis in Senegal, former capital of French West Africa, had in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries a small number of Jewish merchants, often linked to Bordeaux commercial networks involved in the trade of gum arabic and other goods. This presence was marginal and ephemeral, without leading to the formation of an organized community.
