Lida, city in Belarus (Hrodna region), possessed an ancient Jewish community. It is chiefly known for the yeshiva of Radun, founded by the Hafets Hayim (Rabbi Yisrael Meir Kagan), which was located in the region. The Jews of Lida were massacred in 1942.
