Berezhany (Brzeżany en polonais) possédait une communauté juive ancienne, attestée depuis le XVIe siècle dans cette ville de Galicie orientale. Les Juifs y étaient actifs dans le commerce et l'artisanat. Lors de la Shoah, la communauté fut déportée vers Bełżec et exterminée.
