A pilgrimage village on the foothills of the Moroccan High Atlas, Sidi Rahal attracted Jewish merchant families settled near the Berber sanctuary. Their presence, documented in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, fits the pattern of rural Jewish communities in the Atlas region of Morocco.
