Attack — Jerusalem, bus 6 (French Hill)
18 mai 2003·Jérusalem, bus 6 (French Hill)
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
In May 2003, a suicide bomber disguised as an observant Jew boarded a bus on line 6 at the French Hill intersection, in the north of Jerusalem, and detonated himself. The intersection, which connects the city's northern neighborhoods to its center, had already been struck and would be struck again: it was one of the most targeted points of the period.
The attack occurred at the moment when the diplomatic "road map" had just been presented, and it figures among the attacks that compromised its implementation. The disguise used by the perpetrator led to reinforced instructions for security guards at bus stations, and weighed upon the ordinary trust between passengers.
