Cassius takes the city and sells its inhabitants into slavery

Cassius Longinus, then quaestor in Syria, seized Tarichée, the town of the salting works on the shore of the Lake of Génésareth that tradition identifies with Migdal, and sold its inhabitants into slavery. The campaign aimed to restore Roman order following the disaster at Carrhes.

The town was later redeemed by Antipater, who obtained the release of some of the captives. Tarichée would reappear at the forefront of the great revolt, more than a century later, as though the memory of servitude had served as its fortification.
