Attack — Jerusalem, Ben Yehuda Street
1ᵉʳ déc. 2001·Jérusalem, rue Ben Yehuda
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
Ben Yehuda Street, the pedestrian thoroughfare in Jerusalem, had once again become, in early December, a place where the city's teenagers gathered in the evening, despite the attacks of previous years.
Two men detonated their charges in the midst of the Saturday night crowd; a car bomb then exploded in an adjacent street as rescuers arrived, following a method designed to strike the first responders. Most of those killed were teenagers.
The attack occurred on the eve of a visit by an American envoy and brought an end to the ceasefire efforts of that autumn. It opened the deadliest year of the second Intifada.
