Attacks (since 1970)
Grenade thrown into the El Al office, one child killed and several passersby wounded
Nov. 1969·Athènes
The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.
Athènes is struck a second time in the autumn. A grenade is thrown into the offices of the El Al company, located in the very center of the city, amid passersby and employees.
The explosion kills a Greek child who was standing in front of the window and injures several people. No Israelis are harmed: as is often the case in this series of attacks, the victims are inhabitants of the country where the attack is carried out.
This collateral dimension becomes one of the arguments of European governments for strengthening the protection of Israeli installations on their soil, and for prosecuting the perpetrators rather than negotiating their release.
