The Lepel ghetto is liquidated and its inhabitants shot on the outskirts of the city.
Lepel, a small town in the lakes of Belarus, was occupied in July of the preceding year. Its Jewish inhabitants were gathered into a closed quarter, subjected to forced labor and deprived of supplies throughout the winter.
The quarter was liquidated in February and its inhabitants shot on the outskirts of the town. As with many small Belarusian communities, the pre-war registers have disappeared and the testimonies collected after the liberation do not allow for a definitive count.
