During the summer, the German police and the French police arrested foreign Jews in Côte-d'Or, then, in successive waves, French families. Those apprehended were interned in Dijon before being sent to Drancy. The city was the seat of a regional German command, and Burgundy was home to long-established communities to which refugees from eastern France had been added.
