Toll

The toll is reproduced exactly as the source states it — never rounded, never added to another. Tolls overlap from one event to the next.

The Jewish men of the town are rounded up and shot, the ghetto is established in the aftermath.

The Jewish men of Kobryn were rounded up and shot at the end of the summer, and the ghetto was established in the immediate aftermath.

The sequence is typical of western Belarus: elimination of men of fighting age, then confinement of the remainder in a ghetto, then liquidation. Each of these stages was separated from the next by months, which allowed a few to reach the forests and join the partisan groups forming there.
