The camp at Bossuet, in the Oranais region, received administrative internees and foreign Jewish workers who had taken refuge from Europe. Like the other camps of the South, it operated under an administrative order rather than a judicial ruling: one entered without trial and left only by decision of the authorities. The release of detainees from Bossuet dragged on long after the Allied landings, as the new authorities showed no haste in undoing what their predecessors had done. Jewish organizations and aid committees were compelled to intervene case by case.
