Kopaïhorod, a market town in Dniester Podolia, was home to Jews who lived by the weekly market and the trades of a small town. Armed detachments ranging across the province entered it, looted the stalls, broke into homes, and desecrated the synagogue. The inhabitants were beaten, their possessions carried off on requisitioned carts. As elsewhere in Podolia that year, no authority could or would protect the Jewish population of the town.
