From the first to the third of June, the Jewish quarter of Białystok is attacked. The troops and police take part in the looting, and a Duma commission sent to the scene will establish their responsibility in a report that causes a scandal.

It is the first time that an elected Russian assembly has investigated a pogrom and called the administration to account. The report will be followed by no sanctions, and the Duma will be dissolved shortly afterward. It stands as proof, established by the State against itself, of what the communities had been asserting for a quarter of a century.
