In the wake of the Frankfurt riots, the community of Worms was driven from the city by the guilds, before being restored by the Emperor.

These two Rhenish affairs resemble one another: in both cases, the revolt targets first the urban patriciate and strikes the Jews because they are under its protection; in both cases, the Empire intervenes and restores. The imperial protection, which had failed in the time of the Black Death, functioned this time. It came at a price: the Jews were taxpayers of the imperial chamber.
