the community destroyed
The community of Krems was destroyed during the Wiener Gesera.
The Danube city had one of the oldest communities in Austria, and its cemetery served the entire region; the general arrest ordered by the duke spared none of them.
Duke Albert V simultaneously seized the debt registers, which were worth more than ready cash; it was through these seizures, throughout Austria, that the Gesera enriched the court and at once impoverished the cities that owed money to the destroyed communities.
