the community destroyed

The community of Windsheim, an imperial city of Franconia, was destroyed during the Black Death.

It appears in the lists of the Memorbuch of Nuremberg alongside the other communities of the land between the Tauber and the Aisch, annihilated within the same weeks.

The city lived by the vine and by trade along the Rezat; its Jewish moneylenders financed the vintners, and their debts were remitted to the debtors by decision of the council.
