Premier membre connu de la dynastie ; auteur du « Sefer Ha-Zikaron » (Le Livre du Souvenir), recueil clair de lois suivant l'ordre des traités du Talmud, achevé en 1543 et imprimé à Ferrare en 1555. L'ouvrage suscita assez de controverse pour qu'il s'établît ensuite au Caire, où il fut brièvement grand rabbin.
